Occidental is one of the most committed German-style lager producers in the Pacific Northwest. Everything they make is filtered through a Germanic lens — Kölsch, Hefeweizen, Dunkel, Kellerbier, Pilsner — and they do it with technical precision and genuine respect for tradition. These are not beers styled to look German; they are proper expressions of styles that have been refined over centuries.

The Kölsch, in particular, is a benchmark — clean, lightly fruited, lager-crisp, and completely approachable. It functions as one of the most effective gateway craft beers you can put on a tap handle: light enough for guests who typically drink macro lagers, interesting enough that craft drinkers don't dismiss it. The Hefeweizen has the banana-and-clove character that defines the style, and the Dunkel brings a soft roast that appeals to guests looking for something dark but not heavy.
